Gloria Estefan is back with a new song and a full album in Spanish after 18 years. Her new single is called “Raíces,” which means “roots.” The song came out on March 20, the first day of spring. Gloria says the song is about how love and life are like planting seeds. If you care for what you love with patience, kindness, and faith, it will grow strong. She believes it is important to express love because it helps build a better future.
Gloria’s husband, Emilio Estefan, wrote the song and helped produce the album. They recorded it at their Crescent Moon Studios in Miami. The music has the classic Latin rhythms that made Gloria famous, like salsa and tropical sounds. The full album, also named “Raíces,” will come out at the end of May. It is her 30th album in a career that has lasted over 50 years.
Emilio says he wanted the album to feel like their original sound, when they started the Miami Sound Machine in the 1970s. Back then, people told them their Latin sound would not work. But they stayed true to their culture and became international stars. Their 1993 album “Mi Tierra” was a huge hit and spent 58 weeks at the top of the Latin music charts.
Now, the Estefans are thankful for their fans and their hometown of Miami. Emilio says this new album is a way to thank everyone who supported them through the years. It is a special moment for both of them, full of emotion, love, and pride in their roots.
