Historical Moment at the Latin Grammys with a Tribute to Salsa
Marc Anthony and La India reunited after 29 years
The Latin Grammys are all about celebrating music, blending the iconic legends with the up-and-coming new talent. The 25th annual ceremony took place on November 14th and featured a Salsa tribute which unexpectedly reunited Puerto Rican mega stars, Marc Anthony and La India. They performed their most popular collaboration, “Vivir Lo Nuestro,” which was originally released in 1994. The emotional reunion was especially significant since the two had fallen out in the past which made their performance even more memorable.
This tribute wasn’t just a trip down memory lane but a reminder that Salsa remains a vital and unshakable pillar of Latin music that will live on forever.
Marc Anthony executive produced this special segment for the annual ceremony and performed throughout its entirety alongside salsa icons like Tito Nieves, Oscar D’León, and Grupo Niche. Luis Figueroa and Christian Alicea joined the tribute early on and shared the stage with Tito Nieves for a performance of “De Mí Enamórate.”
Marc Anthony also had a big night in other ways. He was nominated for two awards: Best Salsa Album for “Muevense” and Best Short Form Music Video for “Ale Ale”. While he didn’t take home the trophies, his impact was felt throughout the show.
