🏊🏽 The Swimming Pool Industry is Drowning
How much does a swimming pool cost?
According to equipment supplier Pool Corp. the estimated average retail price of a new in-ground swimming pool in the US has gone up from $43,000 in 2019 to $74,000 last year – a 72% increase, along with a sharp reduction in demand. Google searches show that interest in getting a pool was at the lowest ever last month.
About 70,000 new residential, in-ground pools were installed across the US in 2023, and it’s predicted that only about 60,000 will be built this year. Along with the decrease in demand for pools, pool stocks have also declined with a 23% decline from 2022-2023.
In this current economy, many homeowners can’t justify putting in a pool. Besides the price of installation, maintenance and add-ons are also expensive. Diving boards can cost up to $800 and pool lighting up to $1800.
In the meantime, with an increase in travel, Americans can opt-in to pools on vacations instead of digging deep in their home equity or pockets for the luxury of a pool.
