Miami Families Fight to Save Their Homes from Eviction.
In Miami, many families are being forced to leave their homes in a neighborhood called Li’l Abner. Even though these homes are listed as trailers or mobile homes, they are more like regular houses. Families have lived there for many years, improving their homes and spending their life savings to make them safe and comfortable.
In November 2024, all residents were told they had to leave by May 19, 2025. The owners of the land, a company called CREI Holdings, want to build new apartments. They offered families small payments if they left early, but many said the money was not enough. Most families already left, but about 200 are still there, refusing to leave.
Uber’s Plan to Help You Save Money in 2025.
Uber just announced a new way to help people save money on rides. It is called Route Share, and it will work like a bus or shuttle but using Uber cars. This service will run on busy streets in big cities during the weekdays, especially when people go to and from work.
Starting now, people in cities like Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, New York City, Philadelphia, and San Francisco can use Route Share. These rides will be 50% cheaper than regular UberX rides. Uber says these rides will follow fixed routes and make stops every 20 minutes. Each car will carry up to two other people, and you can book a ride from a week before to just 10 minutes before the pickup.
Cervical Cancer Screening Just Got Easier for Women.
A company called Teal Health has made history by getting the first-ever at-home cervical cancer screening test approved by the FDA. The test is called the Teal Wand, and it lets women collect their own sample at home instead of going to the doctor.
Teal Health is a startup based in San Francisco. The company started working on the Teal Wand more than five years ago. The goal was to help more women get tested, especially those who live far from doctors or have busy schedules. Teal Health's CEO, Kara Egan, said the COVID pandemic showed people that getting care from home is possible and helpful.

Before, the app only played quiet music for teens under 16 to help them rest. Now, it will also show meditation exercises, and it will be available to all users under 18. Even adults can try it if they turn on “Sleep Hours” in their TikTok settings.
After 18 Years, Gloria Estefan Returns With Raíces.
Gloria Estefan is back with a new song and a full album in Spanish after 18 years. Her new single is called “Raíces,” which means “roots.” The song came out on March 20, the first day of spring. Gloria says the song is about how love and life are like planting seeds. If you care for what you love with patience, kindness, and faith, it will grow strong. She believes it is important to express love because it helps build a better future.
Gloria’s husband, Emilio Estefan, wrote the song and helped produce the album. They recorded it at their Crescent Moon Studios in Miami. The music has the classic Latin rhythms that made Gloria famous, like salsa and tropical sounds. The full album, also named “Raíces,” will come out at the end of May. It is her 30th album in a career that has lasted over 50 years.
